Design for
Decomposition
Design for Decomposition, set on Orkney, presents The Compostorium, a facility designed for ecological human death practices, and a housing scheme, which recommends the use of materials with the capacity to be adapted and eventually decompose. Drawing parallels between the lifecycle approach of a house to a human, the project advocates that we embrace the same holistic strategy we employ with sustainable architecture to death rituals.
